Holy Moly

I have plans this week and that includes forgetting work for the moment and focusing on my time with Roo, Hanz, friends and my own personal time.

Ive finished re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and i have to admit after the 1st time i read it, i see it in a different light. Funny when you read the whole book again there would be times that you already know what would happen or sometimes you would ask yourself, was i asleep when i was reading this chapter? I still like the book. So many characters died. I even gave a moment of silence as i reflect on their lives. Thats how i love the story, aside from Lord of the Rings.

I still have lots of books unread and waiting for me to open them. However sometimes i feel that i like to rekindle the love for easy and not too long plot story lines. Thank heavens i got the time to finish this. My escape to reality.

Its Maundy Thursday. I wasnt able to go to church. Hanz and I took turns looking after Roo since the yaya went on Rest day.

Im thinking so hard on moving back in Alabang to work. I wish if i wish so hard it would come true. Salary increase would be beneficial as well.

And while im eating cornflakes while typing this i just want to say that Kellogs Frosted Flakes are far better than Nestle Cornflakes. Thats all. Bow.

Oh and sharing with you Roo's pictures.

One minute Manager

I just finished reading the management book, The One Minute Manager and i cant wait to apply it at work.

In a nutshell, its about One Minute Goal Setting, letting your agents know that they are accountable for whatever actions they have. Identifying the problem and finding a solution. If you dont have a solution to your problem, then your just complaining.
Like all resolutions, it should be written down and consistently check if your meeting the goal or not.

If you are meeting the goal, give the One Minute Praising. Acknowledge the behavior that it was accomplished. A touch or pat at the back would be appropriate only if you are comfortable doing it and if its the same thing for the receiver. Do it immediate. Let them feel you are joyous and proud of their achievement. Catch the person doing something right.

If the goal wasnt achieved. Do the One Minute Reprimand, immediately give feedback to the behavior and make sure that its not personal. Let them feel that youre doing this because genuinely you are concern for their performance and the effect it has to the organization. Let it sink in to them that what they did has a consequence but its noting to attack them personally. After the discussion, move on.

So now, im excited to do it step by step and let them know what im doing so they can share it and apply it in their lives as well.

Out of Topic:
Im listening to Kate Nash singing Flourescent Adolescent by Artic Monkey. C-O-O-L. I love her na.

Breaking Dawn

It was the book that redeemed Bella. I love it! Breaking Dawn didnt disappoint me. I just enjoyed the fact that the clans formed an alliance to save Nessie and yes, her name was a handful. One of the reasons why i appreciated the book because the characters matured. I cant wait for this to be a movie, its like Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Starstudded.

Eclipse

It took me almost a month to finish this. Everytime i read it i wanted Victoria to kill Bella for me. hahaha. angry me. It has the same pacing like the second book, Slow in the beginning and it gets interesting in the last 4 chapters. I missed Edward and Alice so much thus letting me get hooked on the book. Aside from them saving the annoying girl and making a big fuzz in the vampire and werewolf world, i have no choice but to read Bella Swan and try not to take it personally. hahaha.

What i like about it? Having newborn vampires and the fight scene.
What i feel was suppose to be kilig moments but i didnt fancy it as well, was the fact that Jacob, Bella and Edward are in one tent. Plus the fact that they call each other names like, bloodsucker and leech and Dr.Fang to mongrel and dog.

Over all impact. Im just glad ive finished the book and im off to book 4. hahaha. I just want to be a Cullen!!!

Twilight

After too much convincing from my friends to read Twilight, i joined the bandwagon. Tempting as the cover looks i tend to sink my teeth and read it non stop. As Gerith would put it, its like Anne Rice meets Francine Pascal. The story was intresting, smartly written, has a different take on Vampires being day walker and much more. The only qualms i have with it is after all the century of being a vampire, why would Edward fall in love with a klutzy highschool girl? What the heck, thats love!

Im reading New Moon now.

Not so Happy after all

Finished reading Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami and it bought me to different places, made me feel all sorts of feelings. The first part was a bore but i got hooked in the middle part and the last part, it was a disappointment for me. Its so immensely written as if your peaking in a painting waiting to be hung. I was taken aback from what i expect the ending would be. If i could chose another title of a song to fit the story it would be When your gone by the Cranberries.

Im asking Hanz to read it so that i could get his reaction on it. Read it, you might see a different angle in the story.

I just cant believe it

What ever happened to Sweet Valley High? They look like girls from The OC. I miss the old school version of it. I just cant relate. They also changed some familiar settings in the story. Like instead of the red Fiat they now drive a red Jeep. Elizabeth edits her school's website and blogs rather than working for the newspaper.

Oh well. Maybe some kids just cant relate too, thats why.

Backtrack

Do you know who they are? Its Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield of Sweet Valley High. I so love the series. By grade 5 i started reading SV Twins then transcend to SV High. I love their Saga and the other stories they published. That time i thought Francine Pascal was the BEST author in the world. Then came Barbra Conklin's P.S. I Love You, what a tear jerker.

In high school i started reading my mom's books. Sydney Sheldon, Danielle Steel's Daddy and Family Album. My Ken Follett and Goodbye Mr Goodbar bonding with Gerith was a hit! I was so amaze because i have this agent who shares the same kind of books i read. When she made a list of books she has, i was like, i read this already, oh i have this. This makes me wonder. Somewhere in this big crazy world there is someone doing the same thing at the same moment.

I so love books. Collecting it, reading it. Some of my books are still waiting for me to be opened and explored. I dont care if you call me a bookworm....hahaha . If you would give me a present, i would love receiving books. Read, Read, Read.

My Roo is a Toddler.

Its really a pinch in the heart to see your baby boy grow so fast. At first you want to see them with their first walk, their first words and pray that hopefully they wont go astray as they learn to make their own walks with friends and would not answer back when they grow up. I know its too early for that but babies grow right before your eyes and if you even blink you'll realize they have all grown up.

Like what Kahlil Gibran said,

Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, And though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls,For their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth. The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, and He bends you with His might that His arrows may go swift and far. Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness; For even as he loves the arrow that flies, so He loves also the bow that is stable.

So there you go, as a parent its a bitter pill to swallow but thats life. Live it.

Here's my baby boy now. After his 1st bday.

After a little blog break

There are so many things that happened while i was in semi-hiatus. First of, i finished reading the last book of Philip Pullman's Dark Materials, The Amber Spyglass It was such a complex, jampack, movie-like book that at times when i read it i feel that im so full right away. Its like eating food with vetsin. Its so tasteful. The book will not let you down in terms of expectations. I think the ending was a little drama anthology for me but it was still cool. You know, with puberty and stuff.

Im still in the process of finishing Roo's party preparations. So help me God.

Im currently addicted to The Gossip Girl. I just cant freakingly connect properly to the site.

Just a week to go and Hanz n I are flying to D-A-V-A-O. Yahoo!!! Hopefully, no typhoon and no government insurgency.

Let us be reminded.

Whenever i feel that the my world is changing i act a little loca. Of course, its not that easy for me to adjust quickly but i pick up the pieces and move on. I received another throw of lemons in my life and im trying my best to make it lemonades but as of the moment i havent cut them yet. But im holding on to the knife.

Ive been blogging about the book Who Moved My Cheese and everytime i write about it i feel myself stronger than ever. Of course. the sad part there is i need to be reminded about it.

What is a Cheese? It could be anything you value. Money, Work, Fame, Comfort. When its gone what would you do?

Pointers in the book:
1. Change happens, they keep moving the cheese.
2. Anticipate change. Smell the cheese often so you know when its getting old.
3. Adapt to change quickly the quicker you let go of old cheese the sooner you enjoy new cheese.
4. Enjoy change. Savor the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese.
5. Be ready to change quickly and enjoy it again, they keep moving the cheese.

With this book to remind me and constant prayers for strenght to do everything which you feel is impossible. Let's go and make lemonades!!!! Thank you God. With you nothing is impossible.

The Subtle Knife

Its a real page turner. I couldnt put it down. Its that addicting. But mind you, its bitin. So i would hear another comment like what i heard a dozen times in a Harry Potter movie, ano yun? Yun na yun? Patay na? Bitin. Its like H-E-L-L-O read the freakin book so you could understand. hehehe. I sound so mad.

Anyway, The Subtle Knife is the second book in the Dark Materials of Philip Pullman. It was basically what it should be, to bridge the gap of the stories. As usual some died and still some remained.

Read it you'll love it. I did.

Im reading the third book now.

I am a fan so books turned movie and the other way around and i cant wait to watch this film. See for yourself.
Fabulous isnt it?

This is the 1st installment of 3 books. Its like a fairytale with a twist. Where humans have their own daemon's (animals in a form of their character)who could talk to them and reflects how they feel. Polar Bears who live by their armors and witches who doesnt eat kids.

The first half of the book was so slow. I felt im reading The Silmaril all over again(which i havent finished). Aside from my hubby's encouragement for me to get to the midddle it was not disappointing at all. I cant put the book down after. So December is just a few sleep away. Yey!!!

I hear it calling me from a far. I was strolling along High Street and i have no intentions at all to buy Harry Potter book 7 but just as i passed the 5 floor building of Fully Booked i just cant resist. I know for a Potter fan it was unwise for me to resist temptation. What was i thinking? So i swipped my card once more without any regrets and came home giddy like a kid with a new toy.

It took me a week before i could finish it. With all the work and stuff i need to do first and Alas! as my EQ is starting to wear down i finished the book.

Initial reaction. Sad. Because there were so many characters who died. Since its the last installment meaning that would be the end of the series.

Then mixed emotions came flooding in. The end it was so heart warming, like a pinoy teleserye, but come to think of it it was so bitin. News is that J.K. Rowling would relise like a Harry Potter Encyclopedia of somesort to explain what happened to the characters at the end. Of course, ill buy that too.

Im going to wait for the movie as well.

Thank you J.K. Rowling for your beautiful mind.

I started my new job and exciting and tiring is an understatement. Compared to my normal travel time of 15 mins to reach the office, now its and hour and a half, max is 2 hours. I have to pass 3 SM malls (counting Podium) arriving to the office and going home i need to trek the whole Ortigas Ave to reach Shaw Blvd. Why the heck did i sacrifice my normal 15 mins trip to this challenge? I believe that there is something worth sacrificing than being stuck in the same place just for familiarity. Of course, im always reminding myself not to go insane because of this new scenario.

Other than blogging, i miss my computer time. I miss talking to my hubby and playing with Roo. But i know, after all the adjustment and stuff there would be a semblance of life out if this.

I am really grateful that the Lord gave me a very patient, supportive and caring husband, i really dont know what i would do without him and i thank the Lord everytime i arrive safely to and from the office. Grabe! I feel like the land trip i always take is like riding Harry Potter's Knight Bus. Lipad talaga!

We'll pass the Transformer's movie date to next week and im so excited to get hold of the Book 7 of J.K. Rowling

All work and no play makes FaithY an irate and harassed girl. So i went out with my mom and brother this Saturday and had a retail therapy. Whaaaa!!!!

(At Leslie's Alabang while waiting for the Bulalo.)

Rate: 4 out of 5 tickets

Okay, it was a huge effort on my part to watch Charlotte's Web. For starters i am Arachnophobic so this film, interesting as it is, is hard to watch especially when you try to cover your eyes at the same time peep while viewing it.

I love the plot and since this is originally a book written by E.B. White, also the author of Stuart Little, ill buy a copy of the book too. Ill read it too Roo as his bed time story. My friend Mac even commented, "pang audio book ka lang", since she knows my state with the creepy crawly. I love love this story and the miracle that comes with it. I love Charlotte and the kids, Wilbur and I see myself in Ike (you'll know when you watch the film). Nice soundtrack too. I wish another miracle would happen, that my fear of spiders would vanish.

Rating: 4 out of 5 bookmarks
Other Titles the Author wrote: Practical Magic and Here on Earth (both have movie versions too).

I started reading this book immediately after reading The Devil Wears Prada. Yeah late bloomer ako sa TDWP book phase. Anyway, this book is so descriptive you'll see yourself so engross with the characters. Its quite a long read. If you are a fan of fairy tales, this has a modern take on it. You will be drawn to its Magical and Mysterious heroines.

For all of you who feels alone and unwanted this book is for you. For those who doesnt share the same sentiments, its a guarantee you'll feel so lucky, special and loved after reading this book.

I was so intrigue with Chinese Cinderella, at first i thought, hmm something like Amy Tan of The Joy Luck Club (which is one of my fave) and i heared from the grapevine that Cindrella really was Chinese and not European. When i opened the book and read the first 3 pages i knew its worth reading and i cant even put it down. In one day, minus the times i need to play with Roo and my personal needs, i finished the book.

Story is short, precise, picturesque and most of all so heartwarming. It brought me to tears after reading it. I wanted to email Adeline Yeh Mah, the author, since it is a story of her life.

A heads up though, the story is really sad almost until the last chapter so if your brave enough to follow her life persuit, Go ahead and read it.

I love Mac for lending me her Chinese Cinderella.

Im sorry Silmarillion, i was so into you for 2 weeks ( compute that 2 days with all the delays in a week) but you were overtaken by The Bergdorf Blondes. At first i was hesitant to buy the book but after 2 pages i was hooked. I read it under the sunlight and my bedside lamp. I was even reading it to Roo so that he wouldnt feel left out when im suppose to be watching over him, hopefully it counts for quality time.

The story was so funny and so juvenile a shopaholic would be really glued to it. Read it!

I was suppose to watch the 3rd Season of Nip/Tuck but i cant find the time. Plus Gray's Anatomy Season 2 is in line as well.

Met Tanya yesterday and had Strawberry Margarita at Aplaya, they are the only bar open until the 6 am. I gave her the Ilog Maria online orders and she lent me her GIGA foot scrub. She's swearing on it. Ill try it tomorrow, give you feedback. My face is so soft and oily because i just finished scrubbing it with IM Honey Face Scrub, its yummy and i feel yummy too.
