I came to realize that aside from naming my baby Freedom because it starts with F and its a non conventional name, its such a sweet coincidence that his birth month is June.

June 1 is Freedom's day.

Last June 1, 2010 at exactly 0750H i gave birth via Cesarean section to my second and God willing last baby. Freedom Jakob C. Santos was born weighing 6.11 kilos.
I was wheeled in the Operating Room of Perpetual Help Hospital at 0700H and was fighting the grogginess but what the heck, i have no one to talk to and eventually i wouldn't want to hear the doctors so i decided to conk out. I was soo afraid to go under the knife again but the Anesthesiologist was very talkative that i was relaxed while i was given 3 shots at the back. You know the feeling of watching your dreams, thats how i felt when i was there. I remember the last thing i said was " I cant breathe", then they placed the oxygen mask on my face. Next thing i knew they were asking me if i want to see my baby. They placed the crying baby beside me and i remember saying "Dont cry mommy is here" and kissed him. What ever part of that i was able to kiss. I wasnt able to count the fingers and toes.

When i was in the recovery room i was so much eager to see my baby. My first recollection was that i smiled, i checked is my facial muscles are still working. Then i was trying to move my legs as i know the nurse will ask me that. I was wondering when are they going to approach me but they didnt so i slept again and again. By 12 noon at long last they ask me if i can move my legs and i was ready for it. They wheeled me back to my room and i was so relieved to see my hubby.

I asked the nurse if i could talk and they approved. I asked my hubby if he was able to take a picture of Butter. I was happy looking at the pictures.

The following day i really want them to room in Butter so i can breastfeed him but it was already noon and they still havent room him in. I still have not seen my baby boy. I asked them to bring me to the nursery and seeing the little baby for the first time made me want to cry. I held him so tight with full love and longing.

After almost a week. I was able to recover from the pain of the stitches. Butter is breastfed ( will make another blog about my Breastfeeding experience) and im enjoying being a mom of two boys and to have a very supportive husband. Life is good.

That was taken when we went to the Health Center for immunization. For parents, i recommend you go to any Las Pinas Health Center for cheaper vaccination. Imagine my private pedia was asking for 3k for DPT, OPV and HiB and i just shelled out 900 pesos for the Hib (anti- meningitis) since that is not government subsidized. Of course, you have to donate any amount for the clinic. Not bad. If you have time just bring the baby book so that they can monitor what vaccizine is needed by the baby.

Going back, after the center visit we went to Southmall to buy Paracetamol for Roo and he was still in the sling. People were staring at me as if im from a tribe or something. Good thing i didnt hear any negative comments but a positive one instead from the saleslady in Baby Co. "Ayan dapat ganyan talaga yung baby carrier". Wink wink...na pa smile ako. Imagine hands free mommy or daddy talaga.

How fast time flies when your having fun. Okay, sometimes im bored to death thinking if what to do and how to spend time alone for myself, but what the heck, im getting used in being a mother of a newborn. Its seems ill be missing my baby more than anything when i go back to work.

All is set for Roo's Christening this Sunday. I'll post pictures after.

Roo is such a good baby, he only gets irate when he gets gas at night or when on the second day he still hasn't pooped. We tried everything from mansanilla to burping, he refuses to drink water too even with Karo syrup.

I love it when he curls up when i carry him and his smiles are precious and few that he shows me ( he smiles a lot when his daddy and lola calls him) maybe when im not always around he'll smile a lot for me.

-----------------------------------------------------

I have high regard for full time parents may it be the mother or the father. Being with your child 24/7 is no walk in the park. Its like deciphering a code to know what he needs but once you get the hang of it its like winning the Jackpot of smart parenting.

Staying at home for a month now made me appreciate freedom more. Freedom to spend time wisely, freedom to live more, learn more, laugh more and love unconditionally.
The realization of making everyday important because you are exchanging a day of your life for a new slate and making new etchings in your heart.

------------------------------------------------------
Don't pick up the phone and dial Bantay Bata....Roo is just fussy almost everytime i point my camera-phone to him.

After breastfeeding, i thought his done...oh im so wrong! Or is it the yellow bonnet?

Daddy helping him to burp....seems like he hated it.

The look of gas is in his eyes.

I swear he was just smiling before this shot.

All in a days work.

Isnt it amazing how a newborn can make or break you? I dont want to call it manipulation instead its unconditional love. I love my baby to pieces and i want to share him too all of you who waited together with me in his life journey. So let us all welcome, Fortune Joachim C. Santos.

Why the name?

Fortune because he is our blessing and which makes all of us lucky to have him and Joachim (Joa-kim) naming him after the Virgin Mary's father. I wanted a name with a virtue and a saint just like my name Faith Marie (believe in Mary) and his dad Hanzel John.

Roo weighs 7.4 pounds and because my cervix dilation couldnt progress from 3 cm from 12 noon to 12 midnight we decided to go under the knife. The worst thing in waiting for Roo is that the doctors (plural form) kept on inserting their finders in me (IE). I hated it so much. But everythings worth the wait.

Roo decided to come out dec 9 a day after his dad's bday at 0145H. After a day recuperating in the hospital I decided to go home.

Its been a long wait and is still on going. I dont mind waiting for Roo as long as he comes out complete and healthy. So while waiting i could make my Christmas wishlist:

1. To see my babyboy RooRoo
2. Get Flu shots
3. Update my wardrobe ... one good reason to shop again!!!
4. To be a better mother and wife and daughter
5. Spa and facial .... oh how i missed getting pampered for almost 7 months
6. Ipod ... wishing for that for 2 years, it seems i have so many things in line before i could have one
7. Books books and books ...speaking of books...check out Shelfari website.
8. Good health and safety for everyone.
9. Pictures pictures and pictures
10. Peace on earth and good will to all

So while my cervix is still opening to a certain extent, im just savoring the moment of being married and having my own time and space. I know everything will change once Roo is out.

That's the term for the day. Hanz and I visited the OB and during the normal check-up procedure she advised me that my cervix is open and its 1cm already. I was like, WHAT!?! Is that a good thing? Of course she said it was. I was like, wait im not yet ready. Does this mean ill be giving birth soon? Tonight? Tomorrow? Wait!!!!

As if i can stop this thing from happening. I still have an appointment with Jeff who will take a picture of me while Rooroo is inside. My second baby shower will be held on sunday. I still need to file my Maternity leave on dec3 so that i can go back on February 2. My hospital bag is still empty.

On the other hand, i cant wait to see and interact with my baby. I wasnt able to have a 4d ultrasound, i was suppose to do so but the clinic told me that the baby is too big for the ultrasound procedure so i settled for 2d just to check how my amniotic fluid is plus if the baby is breech, good thing everything's normal.

I would like to acknowledge two of my ka-buwanan, Chinggay(college Kada) and Maan (college dormate). Chinggay texted me last night asking if im having false labor i said No and she said she thinks she's having one. Anyway, false alarm. Maan, while im doing this blog she texted, is now in the hospital waiting to give birth. She had her contractions at 6pm and now is in 3cm.

So i talked to Rooroo and ask him if he really is ready to go out of to the world and meet us. So far all his answers are blood spotting and sharp stabs on my ribs and skin.
